20 PhD and Master’s students from 6 nationalities joined the 2nd edition of the Marine Robotic Summer School
For the second year the MIT Portugal Program organized the Summer Course on Marine Robotics. This year the Summer School took place in Horta, Azores, from july 11 to 22, and hosted 20 PhD and Master’s students in engineering and science fields from 6 different nationalities, selected out 97 applications from 20 different countries.
For 2 weeks, students could learn about marine robotics, oceanography and marine biology from a team of trainees composed of faculty from the University of Porto, the University of Azores and MIT, in addition to invited lectures from other Universities in Europe and USA.
This summer school was an initiative jointly organized by the MIT Portugal Program (MPP), LSTS – Underwater Systems and Technology Laboratory (FEUP), and the University of Azores, with the participation of AIR Centre; CoLab +ATLANTIC; Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation; School of the Sea of the Azores; and Instituto de Investigação em Ciências do Mar – OKEANOS. The Summer course had the High Patronage of the Regional Government of Azores.
