MPP online info session on “How to apply for a MPP-FCT PhD Grant” joined online 35 prospective PhD Students
This year the MPP online info session on “How to apply for a MPP-FCT PhD Grant” joined online 35 prospective PhD Students from different countries (Portugal, Brazil, Turkey; Cape Verde; etc) and Portuguese institutions (Técnico,Lisbon; University of Porto; University of Coimbra; University of Minho; University of Beira Interior; FCT Nova; University of Aveiro, etc), to learn more on how to submit a successful application for a MPP-FCT PhD fellowship.
The session held on March 1st, was led by Ana Mena, MPP Education and Innovation Coordinator, who introduced the MPP National Directors, Pedro Arezes and Zita Martins.
Pedro Arezes welcomed the participants and pointed out the main characteristics of the 2023 PhD call. “This year we decided to boost our strategic area of Climate Science & Climate Change and dedicate this call to students interested in conducting research activities addressing some global challenges.”
Pedro also highlighted the importance of having these calls. “With these education initiatives we are creating a community composed by our PhD students and creating a very important network for you”.
On the same note, Zita Martins, MPP National co-director, stressed that this call represents a great opportunity for students. “This is not just a PhD Grant. This is an opportunity to connect with people from research, industry and innovation, and with people doing research in the same area as you.”
The goal of this session was to better informing putative candidates of the call’s requirements and of opportunities to conduct a PhD. For that Ana Mena, explained step by step the application process and all the main requirements to submit a successful application. She also pointed out some useful information’s for the potential candidates: don’t miss the call deadline – March 22, 5:00pm; make sure your referees provide the recommendation letters within the application period; in case your academic degree was awarded by a foreign institution don’t forget to submit the recognition of your degree and the conversion of the final classification; and carefully read the Opening Notice of the Call and the Application Guide.
A Call is currently open until March 22, to award 10 MPP2030-FCT Research Grants in the strategic area of the MPP of Climate Science & Climate Change. For more information about these call please visit the website page .
