MIT Portugal Program - Students Poster Award

The MIT Portugal Program (MPP) Annual Conference is a unique opportunity for research interaction between Portuguese and MIT researchers, and industry members. This year and for the first time, MPP will reward the work of Portuguese and MIT students via the MIT Portugal Program Poster Award.
Students are invited to submit a poster showcasing their work in one of the strategic research areas of the MIT Portugal Program:
- Climate Science & Climate Change
- Earth Systems: Oceans to Near Space
- Digital Transformation in Manufacturing
- Sustainable Cities
- Data Science
MPP will award the best poster in each research category with a US$ 300 prize.
Who can apply?
This poster competition is open to:
- PhD students with an MPP-FCT PhD Scholarship (i.e., 2020 and 2021 Call), or
- MIT and Portuguese students that are part of an existing MIT Portugal Program research project (flagship project, exploratory project, or seed project).
Selection of the Awardees
Poster submissions are due by July 31st 2022. The best 25 submissions will be presented at the 2022 Annual Conference, on September 20, 2022, in Aveiro, Portugal.
Students will be notified of this decision by email in the first week of September. The 25 selected poster award candidates will be invited to join the 2022 Annual Conference and present their work. Selected MIT students will receive support to travel to Portugal to attend the conference and present their work.
In addition to the 25 poster award candidates that will be invited to present their work, all students are invited to attend the 2022 annual conference on September 20th.
The final 5 winners will be announced, and prizes awarded during the 2022 Annual Conference.
How to apply?
Please read this section carefully before submitting your Poster.
- Applications can be submitted via https://mitportugal.mit.edu/poster-submission-form from July 18 – 31, 2022.
- Only one poster submission per student.
- Language on poster must be in English.
- Files must be smaller than 10MB in size
- Submit in .PDF format.
- Please use Adobe Acrobat Pro or free online services to reduce the PDF file size.
- Optional: you will be able to insert a link to a (Youtube or another platform) video on the website platform to support your presentation.
- Prepare your poster using the Program’s template, available below for download
- – The poster should not exceed one page in size and should be in portrait orientation.

The authors can use freely the blank area in the template. Nevertheless, please remember that the purpose of the poster is to give an overview of the research work using a balanced and effective combination of text, imagery, and figures to capture viewers’ attention.
