Calls
Periodically, the MIT Portugal Program (MPP) solicits proposals for impactful research projects, posters, or student and researcher opportunities.
The calls for research projects and posters are designed designed to address challenges and topics within the program’s current areas of research. Funded projects address issues of global relevance that have significant societal impact. The MPP has opened six calls for projects since 2018, resulting in 99 projects across a wide array of strategic research areas during the program’s first three phases.
Now in its fourth phase (MPP2030), MPP is focused on promoting collaborative research between MIT and Portuguese universities, research institutions and industry partners in eight broad areas:
- Chips/nanotechnology
- Energy
- Artificial intelligence
- Space
- Climate science and climate change
- Earth systems: oceans to near space
- Digital transformation in manufacturing
- Sustainable Cities
On this page, you will find details relating to all aspects of the Competitive Calls, including information on proposals, open calls, results of past calls and more.
The calls for student and researcher opportunities support two types of opportunities: educational initiatives for MIT and Portuguese students, and travel grants enabling Portuguese students and researchers to visit MIT.
